Tolcarne News
Kia ora Tolcarne whānau. On Sunday Bex took the juniors out to St Clair for a surf. This was a hit, with many trying surfing for the first time! They looked the part and had an awesome morning on the water
We had a Tribe Dinner on Monday, our first with the newly voted Tribe Leaders. Congratulations to the following Year 13s who were voted as a leader for their Tribe;
Grendon: Evie Pannett, Grace Newlands & Josie Wither
Baxter: Charlotte Paterson & Jess Crawford
Highgate: Lucy Taylor, Grace Hastie & Georgia Marris
Falkland: Anna Carswell, Charlotte McKenzie & Holly Milne
Each Tribe practiced and performed their new chants, all dressed in the most fabulous colours - top points for the outfits! We are looking forward to more events this term.
On Tuesday afternoon the Year 9s had their first chance to use the activities room. We baked cinnamon scrolls and mini donuts, making plenty of mess in the process which was lots of fun!
In the evening we held Year 10 Koru, focussing on mindfulness. Robyn and I took the students through a mindful 'body scan', where they were able to fully relax and unwind from a busy day. This is a great practice for when you are feeling overwhelmed, struggling to get to sleep at night or just want a moment of quiet, chill time.
On Wednesday we had Koru with the Year 9s. Our focus on values continued, playing the values game. This involved each group selecting a mystery value from the pile, deciding if it was important enough to make their individual 'top 9 values square'. Each student then shared what their personal 9 most important values were. This was a great session and fun way to learn more about one another.
Now it is Friday! We hope you all have a great weekend Ma tē wā
