Year 7 & 8 Camp

From Monday the 17th to Thursday the 20th May, the Year 7&8 students attended their biennial outdoor education experience at Camp Columba in Pukerau, near Gore.

Prior to camp, we learnt about the layering system and thermal properties of outdoor clothing so we were all well-prepared to enjoy our winter camp and outdoor activities, in any weather conditions.

Four instructors from Adventure Southland, along with our teachers, camp parents and Year 10 leaders, ran a busy activity programme - full of team building fun and personal challenge.

Camp Columba has amazing facilities with all of the activities onsite. Our day-time activity programme included team initiative challenges, abseiling, rock climbing, crate stacking, belaying, low ropes agility, high ropes balance, leap of faith, orienteering, zipline, frisbee golf, archery, speed concrete slide and the bouncy pillow. After dinner, the Year 10 leaders ran fun activities each night: team quiz, wearable arts challenge and a games evening.
