Hilda's News Term 2

Principal's Message

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

1 Thessalonians 5:11

Dear Parents, caregivers and friends of St Hilda’s,

It has been a busy term, and one where as we move into the winter months it is good to take time to reflect on what is important. In chapel we focussed on Matariki. Traditionally, on a practical level, Matariki was a time to celebrate a successful harvest, and a time to prepare for the next growing season. On a more symbolic level, it was therefore a time to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and plan for the future. This was a timely reminder that we all need to do this at times to ensure we continue to reflect on what is good, appreciate what we have and look to build on these things.

It has been wonderful to see that range of different events through the term that remind us of the different ways we come together as a community. Things like the formal, Sports tournaments, Cultural competitions, service initiatives, Chapels all combine to reinforce and celebrate our community.

It has also been great to see the engagement with learning and discussions happening on how this looks and what ways we can strengthen what we do. This reflects the importance of looking to the future and building on what we have.

It is always lovely to be reminded to enjoy things in the present and the house singing competition, Arts assembly and Prefect Mid Winter Christmas were all great examples of ways to do this.

We are looking forward to welcoming Mrs Barron back next term and II hope you all take time to reflect on what has happened, appreciate what is happening and anticipate what is to come.

“You can’t stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.”
