Message from our School Counsellor

Here are some tools and insights necessary to cope with Surviving the lock down with your family. We know that during this time it can be incredibly stressful and challenging for many young people and their families while they are in lock down together.

To anyone who is getting emails titled NOTIFICATION OF OVERDUES. No stress, just ignore these emails please. We were unable to cancel these emails before lockdown started. If you have books from the library please keep them safe and return them when we are back at school.

A reminder that during Term 2 & 3 the winter uniform is to be worn.

On Friday 13th March, 13 students from Tauhara College were lucky enough to experience shooting a rifle at the Taupo Rifle Range. Bill and Brian educated the students during and in class lesson on the safety required around guns and why we have gun laws. Following this the students were able to travel out to the Rifle Range to give shooting a go. They were taught how to sight the target, how to breathe so it doesn't affect the shot and how to correct their aim. The students had a fantastic time and we are all very grateful to Ian, Bill, Brian and Cam who took time out of their day to support us in this great learning experience.

Thanks to all the volunteers for doing an awesome job for the Ironman! Our Hospitality students were hard at work boiling and peeling hundreds of eggs in preparation for making all of the Ironman volunteer lunches.

Anamata CAFE (Clinics and Advice for Everyone) is a Youth One Stop Shop (YOSS). The Nurses/Practitioner are available at our School Clinic for students during the following hours (no bookings required):
