Even on overcast days, sunhats are really important (especially in Terms 1 & 4). Students without a hat will need to play in the shade during break time.

Please ensure your children are coming to school with a sunhat & sunblock applied every day. A full drink bottle of water is also very important.

This programme is called Te Puāwaitanga o te Rito ("the blossoming of the flax shoot").  The name was developed during a wānanga (meeting) between staff and Ihipera Sweet (Board member/Hukanui Marae/Ngāti Wairere).

This class includes Year 3-5 students, and is part of Tūī Rua alongside English medium classes with Year 4/5 students. 

It is our intention that this will become a Year 4-6 class for 2026, and we are also hopeful we will have sufficient interest to establish a separate Year 1-3 bilingual class in 2026.  Please feel free to chat to Tony if you are interested.
