Diwali Celebrations

Recently our students enjoyed learning about Diwali, both in class and also in fun lunchtime activities.

As a very culturally diverse school (currently we have 43 countries represented) this is something very important and special to us.

Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is one of the most popular Hindu festivals. Diwali signifies the triumph of light over darkness, and renewal of life. Millions of Hindus around the world, including those in New Zealand, celebrate Diwali with gifts, lights, fireworks, and special meals.

The importance of recognising and celebrating cultural diversity is a strong message in The New Zealand Curriculum, with Cultural diversity being one of eight key principles.

It was a great effort from staff, students, friends and family, and was wonderful to embody our Community-Minded value and support such a special place.
