Teacher Only Day: Whaea Michelle worked with kaiako on the new Times Tables Rock Stars programme and showed different ways to use rauemi pāngarau/ maths equipment in pāngarau sessions. Healthy Active Sport came in to kōrero about how to use all areas of our play spaces effectively and asked us to think of ways we could use their support in school. Matua Wiremu talked to us about mauri informed practice and shared the direction for Te Whare Mauri Ora in our kura while kaiako looked at a self-regulation draft and gave feedback so that will be used effectively in our akomanga.
Tapuwaekura: Whaea Dot, Matua Beau and Tuahine Cheyenne went on an Atua Matua workshop in Ōruapaeroa and learned about the whakapapa of raupō, rongoā from the rākau there, the manu that live there and pūrākau around these and came away with their own handmade manu aute!
Whaea Dot and Whaea Crisanna did a 14km bike ride through the red zones in Ōtautahi, learning about the manu, rākau and hītori of the wāhi- finishing with a tree planting.
Tuahine Cheyenne and Tuahine Hotumanawa are currently in Glentanner, on their way to hīkoi ki a Aoraki, learning the pūrākau, rākau and taiao of the area to bring back and teach our tamariki.
Apple Teachers: Whaea Kate, Whaea Michelle, Whaea Andrea and Matua Toi went to Bromley School to learn more about integrating digital technology into the curriculum and akomanga. Whaea Āwhina also visited two kura to see how they integrate Apple tech into their classes and attended a workshop on utilising apps in the class.
Ako Pānuku: Whaea Andrea and Whaea Crisanna went to a Wānanga Reo to upskill and whakapakari their reo Māori in the akomanga. They learned from some amazing kaiako including Hēmi Kelly! Whaea Āwhina and Whaea Crisanna went to a Leadership Bootcamp and learned about Māori leadership frameworks drawing on navigation, whakataukī and uara to help them develop their own leadership plans.
Kemp's Deed: Whaea Dot and Whaea Āwhina went to a workshop provided by Tuahiwi Education Committee for Tumuaki and Leaders in Schools about Kemp's Deed.
Kāhui Ako- Dr. Hana O'Regan: All of our staff attended a keynote presentation for Kāhui Ako Kātote by Hana O'Regan about equity within our schooling system now, the history of inequality and inequity in our education system for Māori and where to next without repeating the mistakes of the past.
