Champions - Pūkeko!

On Wednesday 23rd August the school dressed up like Rock Stars as part of the NZ Rock times tables tournament.

Year 2 - Year 8 Students could take part in the tournament from Monday 21st-Wednesday 23rd and collect points for our school, their class and themselves. Te Kura o Tuahiwi have only been using internationally renowned, award-winning app and learning platform, Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS), for just over a week now and already we are seeing great improvements in the children's fluency with their times tables.

The competition was fierce with 4,009,855 questions answered collectively by 5,384 pupils from more than 82 schools and 366 classes around the country!  Te Kura o Tuahiwi came 43rd for our average score and 26th for our total correct answers.  Collectively our Kura answered 42,500 questions, which is very impressive.

Bruno Reddy, creator of TT Rock Stars says The pupils excelled themselves throughout New Zealand Rocks. Not only did they engage in some friendly competition but there were also some clear improvements in their recall and speed as time went on. Our goal's always been to make learning maths basics so fun that pupils give it their all.

These are the top winning classes and students across our kura.
