Aroha ki te tangata te Tuahiwi ki te whai ao

Nei rā te mihi mahana ki a koutou e te whānau o te Kura o Tuahiwi.

Welcome to all of our new and existing whānau who have entrusted their tamariki with us. We are looking forward to a year of new learnings and wonderings.

We have many new members who have joined our beautiful team of Kaiako and kaimahi here at Te Kura o Tuahiwi.

Matua Beau is our new kaiako in Korimako and he comes to us with a wealth of māori medium experience. Alongside Matua Beau we have Tuahine Cheyenne who will be supporting Matua Beau as a kaiawhina.

Cheyenne is friendly and kind and has already sprinkled her love of life and energy across our Pā.

We have an ex-student of ours Noellalee who has now graduated and has come back to give back to our Kura community. Noellalee is covering release for our kaiako. We look forward to seeing her growth over the year.

We welcome our lovely Whaea Awhina back from maternity leave and are so thankful to have her back with us leading Whitireia. Lucky us!!

Michelle Kitto also returns to us from Maternity leave and is supporting our hard working Berniece in the tari (office).

Whaea Pam is in fortnightly on a Friday working with Kahu and we are so lucky as because we all know Whaea Pam has a wealth of knowledge that she loves to share with all of our tamariki.

We are also fortunate to have Whaea Hireke who comes to us with many years of experience in Māori medium education. She will be releasing Whaea Michelle on a Friday.

A big mihi to our mama Connie who is also on our board. She will be working alongside Whaea Michelle in Kiwi on a Monday and Thursday.

We celebrate Tuahine Hotumanawa and Tuahine Cheyenne as they begin their bilingual teaching degree at the University of Canterbury.

We are so proud of our young ladies and know that they will shine.

I feel very blessed to work alongside all of our amazing Kaiako and kaimahi at Te Kura o Tuahiwi. A team who are committed to the learning and wellbeing of our ākonga, with strong aspirations for our kura, tamariki and whānau.

I am really excited about the year ahead and look forward to a great 2023.

Ngā manaakitanga
