Technology (Hangarau)

Welcome to the Technology Learning Area. We are excited to offer a wide range of engaging courses which are rich in practical, hands-on learning experiences. Our courses equip learners with knowledge, skills, and insight equally beneficial to the Engineering, Construction, Food, and Hospitality or Digital pathways, and are highly transferable to adult life.

9CON - Construction

Mostly wood based. Constructing a small stool using basic. Skills, hand and power tools, and using some basic design ideas to enhance the finished product.

9DTG - Digital Technologies

Logos are often the first impression people have of a business. Done well, people can recognise logos anywhere. In Year 9 Digital Technologies you will learn to use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to design a logo of your own.

9FBR - Fabric Technology

A range of basic hand and machine skills to create a personalised soft toy, bag, or hat.

9MMT - Multi Materials Technology

A multi-materials course that builds from day one. You will create a project of your choosing around a context, in the hard materials room.

9FDT - Food Technology

This course is designed to develop skills and knowledge in Hospitality, as well as developing knowledge of basic nutrition concepts. Each of the standards requires students to complete both a written and practical assessment component.

10CON - Construction

Constructing two self-directed wood-based projects using basic skills, hand, and power tools, and using some basic design ideas to enhance the finished product.

10DTG - Digital Technologies

Learn the basics of computer programming through game development. Explore how to create a range of different games using Scratch and Gamefroot, then create your own game to show off your programming skills.

A branch of technology that is involved in the production of food. Not just cooking and eating but deals with the techniques and principles involved in processing and preserving food.
