Year 9/10 Cricket Tournaments

Our Girls and Boys combined teams played in a two day tournament this week against other Country Schools Cricket Teams

This year we were unable to field a full Boys year 9/10 Cricket Team so we combined with Ellesmere College.  The team took on Rangiora and Rolleston on Monday, playing some fine cricket but just falling short for the win.  Top Scorer Reid McKinnon v Rangiora on 74 runs and on Tuesday against Lincoln at Lincoln smashing 76 runs.  Many thanks to Hamish Wright for looking after the team.

Our Girls Team had a bye first up on Monday morning, then played Rolleston College in the afternoon.  It is good to be able to field a full team, with 12 in the squad.  They had a good win against Rolleston with a couple of overs to spare.   On Tuesday, Ellesmere College made the trip to us, for a home game.  The team was eager to have a good win on home soil.  It was to be a 30 over game, with Ellesmere batting first, our bowling and fielding was pretty exceptional all out for 23 runs.  For the girls in our team that didn't get a chance to bat the day before,  they padded up first but the bowling performance from Ellesmere was pretty awesome with one player taking 5 for 0.  Thanks to Imogen and Lilyana, who came in further down the batting order, 23 runs was quickly made to win the match.  The teams played another fun innings in the afternoon.  A huge thank you to Peter Cullen for coaching both our year 7/8 and 9/10 teams this year.

We are very grateful to have parental support helping out with our sports programme.
