KBS Newsletter - Wednesday 13th December
Kia ora e te whānau,
On behalf of the KBS team I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful and safe happy new year! This will be our last newsletter for 2023 as we finish on Thursday 14th December at 12pm. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for your support throughout this year. Thank you for your contributions whether it be big or small, every contribution counts. Our staff do work tirelessly striving to deliver the best outcomes for our tamariki.
You should have received your child's end of year report and we apologise that you may have received multiple copies. A wealth of information noting important end of year communication and important information for 2024 including information on school accounts, Skool Loop, use of Kindo, key dates for the start of 2024 and next years stationery lists were sent out last week. If you did not receive this please can you email office@kbs.school.nz
Our first day with the tamariki for 2024 is Wednesday 31st January, beginning with a formal mihi whakatau just after 9am to welcome our new tamariki and whānau. All are welcome! If you would like to touch base with your child's teacher before the first official day of 2024 you are welcome to come to our 'open morning' on Tuesday 30th January 9-10:30am, our Technology Centre will also be open at this time. Please note Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th of February our school will be CLOSED. Tuesday 6th is Waitangi Day and our Board of Trustees has made the decision to close Monday 5th February to allow for a four day holiday.
I am pleased to report our end of year achievement data with significant increases in mathematics. Our 2023 end of year data showed 61% of our tamariki achieved at or above the curriculum expectations in mathematics, 68% achieved at or above the curriculum expectations in reading, and 57% achieved at or above the curriculum expectations in writing.
We wish all of our Year 8 graduates the very best as they transition to high school. On Monday evening our Year 8's had their formal, and they turned up to the Kaiapoi Club in style. We are very proud of our awesome graduates and know they will go on to do great things. On Wednesday evening from 7pm we have our Year 5-8 prize giving in our hall and it would be ideal to see as many of you there.
Have a safe break and we look forward to seeing you all refreshed in 2024.
Ngā mihi,
Hayden
