Lemonwood Grove School Board of Trustees Update

Welcome back! We hope that you have had the opportunity for some family and rest time over the summer. It has been great to see our community connecting with one another over the last couple of weeks.

Our first board meeting for the year was last night, the 8th of February during which we appointed our Presiding Member (Chairperson) and Deputy Presiding Member (Deputy Chairperson).

Rebecca Congalton has stepped into the role of Presiding Member and Drew Winter has taken on the role of Deputy Presiding Member.

The Board would like to thank Drew for his leadership in the Presiding Member role to date. Drew first served on the Establishment Board of Te Uru Tarata | Lemonwood Grove School and has continued to serve on our parent representative boards. Throughout most of this time Drew has also been chair of the board and has led with compassion, consistency and great organisational skills.

The first meeting for the year was a big one as we heard from our teaching team about achievement data - we looked at the trends for our learners and their learning to understand what we need to do over the next few months to help our teaching team to continue to support learner progression. We also approved our budget and meeting plan for the rest of the year.

The Board is continuing to support Blair in working with the Ministry of Education on phase 3. At this stage there is no new information to share around design or timelines but when we have information to share we will.

Our general board meetings are open for anyone to attend. Our next general meeting is on the 29th of March and it’s focus is on building community around our school. We’d love to see you there - please send us an email bot@lemonwoodgrove.school.nz and we can share more about what to expect.

Important tasks for us in term 1 are to get to know each other better, to build on our knowledge and skills in relation to our board roles and to maintain regular communication with you through these newsletters.
