Congratulations to Riley Taylor and Cathal Guiney for their selection to the 2018 Prefect team. We’re sure they will serve our students and school to the best of their ability. As we applaud Riley and Cathal we are conscious of all the other boys who lead or show important leadership qualities elsewhere in the school.

From 26-29 March, 20 student voyagers and 23 crew members embarked on an expedition to the Kermadec Islands on board HMNZS Canterbury.

A much needed facelift has been given to the Timaru Boys’ High School reception area which has stood unchanged since 1979.

A group of 21 boys from all Year levels had the privilege of working with Sir Don McKinnon (ONZ, GCVO) in the Memorial Library on Friday 2 March. Sir Don visited to promote the New Zealand Memorial Museum project at Le Quesnoy in France - for which he is Patron.

These take place in Term 2, Week 4 - Wednesday May 23rd to Friday May 25th. All students with examination based subjects will have examinations on these days. 11BN will remain at school on those days.

Whole school conferencing will take place on Friday 4th May.

XCM Group are suppliers of our school jackets. Unfortunately, there has been an issue with the overseas factory who makes these jackets.

All students present on photo day had individual and vertical form class photographs taken. Year 9 also had ‘tree’ class photographs and Year 10 had Rite Journey class photographs.

A reminder that senior students in Years 12 and 13 must have completed a vehicle permission form before they bring a vehicle to school (Year 11 may bring a moped or similar).

All parents have been emailed log-on details to access the portal which has recently been upgraded.

All students are able to download this for free on up to five devices. This can include computers at home.

Our aim is to have all Year 9 students with a device by the start of Term 2 this year.

Could parents please ensure that their boys have several pens/pencils, a ruler, calculator, spare paper, pencil case, etc, to bring to school. A number of boys are turning up to class without the necessary equipment, unprepared for class. Support our PB4L value of "Responsibility": being prepared and on time with the right gear.

The Timaru Boys’ Athletic Sports were held in warm, calm conditions at Aorangi Stadium on Friday 2 March.

A Timaru Boys’ High School team comprising Jack Sands, Cathal Guiney and George Guerin won the team event at the South Island Secondary Schools Triathlon Championships held in Oamaru on Sunday 4 March.

The Timaru Boys’ High School Tennis Team has made history by qualifying for Tennis NZ National Secondary Schools Teams Finals.

Timaru Boys’ Softball Saints won the South Canterbury Secondary Schools final with a clear-cut but hard fought 10-2 victory over Temuka.

Timaru Boys’ High School successfully defended their Aoraki touch title.

The TBHS 2 team of Jack Aicken and Caleb Anngow finished runners up to Waitaki Boys’ 4 in the pairs section of the Aoraki Bowls Competition.

Timaru Boys’ High School had a very successful South Island Secondary Schools regatta held in Twizel 3-4 March. Our boys earned their places in 6x B finals and 10x A finals.

The Aoraki Athletic Sports were held in ideal conditions at the Aorangi Stadium track on Wednesday 14 March.

Ross McCulloch (Year 9) achieved the rare feat of a 9 wicket haul.

Played in Timaru in cool conditions on Monday 26 February, honours were evenly shared in the annual exchange between Timaru Boys’ High School and St Andrew’s College.
