The annual School Anzac Commemorative Service will be held in Hogben Hall and the Memorial Library on Friday 13 April 2018, at 2pm.

BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) use has expanded, including a Year 9 ‘BYOD Blitz’ two weeks ago, to enhance and modernise our teaching and learning. On 27-28 of March, 32 Year 13 students from Agricultural Science and Chemistry were involved in a field trip to survey the quality of the Pareora River.

The 2018 Swim School had the largest turn out ever with 10-15 boys from Years 9 to 11 showing up regularly on Tuesdays and Thursdays lunch times.

On Thursday 8 March, students Rory MacLeod, William McArthur and Ethan Tyree travelled to Rotorua to compete in the New Zealand and National South Pacific Highland Pipe Band Championships, competing among nearly 50 other bands from across New Zealand and the South Pacific.

In anticipation of the Board of Trustees Election to be held in 2019, the current Board of Trustees are seeking expressions of interest from parents who may be interested in exploring the possibility of joining their ranks.

On Wednesday 21 March, the annual Aoraki Golf Croquet Championship took place with Timaru Boys’ High School entering five pairs into the B grade competition.

The Timaru Boys’ High School tennis team of James Watt, Josh Cameron, George McAleer, Matt Ellis and Connor Crotty earned the respect of their opposition teams at the National Secondary Schools’ Tennis Finals held in Christchurch this week with competitive matches and several upset wins.

Maadi (NZ Secondary School Championships) was held at Lake Ruataniwha over a week that saw 2089 competitors from 120 schools compete in not only the hottest of days, but the coldest.

Held in Gore on 7 April, the South Island Secondary Schools Motocross Championships saw six of our young men travel down on the Friday to compete in conditions that were extremely muddy, with the area having experienced ½ inch of rain before the event.

These take place in Term 2, Week 4 - Wednesday May 23rd to Friday May 25th. All students with examination based subjects will have examinations on these days. 11BN will remain at school on those days.

Whole school conferencing will take place on Friday 4th May.

Come along to the upcoming South Canterbury Drama League Juniors double billing production of ‘Seussical Kids and Hairspray Jnr’, and see our talented students Caleb Cameron and Cole Whitnack in action on stage at the Theatre Royal Timaru from 12- 14 April. They have been rehearsing all term and are ready to blow you away with their talent on stage. Caleb stars as the famous Corny Collins in Hairspray Jnr in what is now his 6th and final show for the Junior section of the SCDL.

A reminder that senior students in Years 12 and 13 must have completed a vehicle permission form before they bring a vehicle to school (Year 11 may bring a moped or similar).

Our aim is to have all Year 9 students with a device by the start of Term 2 this year.
