As we move through Term 2, we continue to have lots happening in our busy kura.

The Board of Trustees met last week, and the following are some highlights from that meeting.

6-9 July in the TGHS Nora Dickie Hall

Groups of Year 13 students have now visited the University of Canterbury, the University of Otago, the Otago Polytechnic and the New Zealand School of Tourism (Dunedin Campus).

Recently a group of Year 12/13 Science students spent the morning out at Fonterra Clandeboye.

The aim of the Pathways Expo was to expose the students to a wide range of industries, excite them about their own future pathways and help empower them to make informed and meaningful decisions.

Our 2021 netball season has started well with 12 school teams registered in our local competition!

In the first week of term 2, the year 13 Outdoor Ed class travelled to Abel Tasman to explore and tramp the great Abel Tasman coastal track.

Highlights so far this term include the Year 13 Tertiary trips, the Inzone Careers Coach visiting school, a group of Year 12 & 13 Science students visiting Fonterra and all our Year 11 students attending the South Canterbury Pathways Expo last week.

The Jump Jam Extravaganza is to be held on Thursday 10 June between 11am and 2 pm at Mountainview High School.

On 8 May our kapa haka rōpū performed at the Te Aitarakihi Market Day.

With the proposed upcoming NCEA changes (due to be implemented in 2023 for Year 11), the Ministry of Education have allocated eight teacher only days for secondary schools over the next two years.

We are forever grateful for the amazing support we get from our community and the various groups around South Canterbury.

On Friday the students and staff were transformed into a sea of māwhero/pink as we stood together to spread aroha, celebrate diversity and put a stop to bullying!

The Year 11 Materials Technology class was very happy for an excuse to put on their newly-completed Onesies! They have done a fabulous job of the construction - it's quite an achievement installing a zip that long!

Enterprise is the theme for Financial Literacy this year and the Year 10 girls put up a very innovative show to showcase their talent in making beautiful theme-based outfits from newspapers.

On the 14 - 16 April, the Year 12 History class ventured to Central Otago for their history trip! This trip was a fun-filled, three days of new experiences and opportunities.

‘The House’ celebrated a milestone birthday during the weekend of 16-18 April 2021.
