Advertisers in Tui Motu Magazine
Ann Hassan — June 11, 2024
As well as publishing the magazine monthly we are constantly seeking to increase our subscription list.
The "freebie" promotion, whereby a subscriber could nominate another person to get a free subscription for a year, started in June 2022 and continued through to the end of June 2023. This has been our most successful marketing strategy for new subscribers. During the year it gained a total of 351 new subscriptions. Eighty freebies have renewed their subscriptions, representing over 25 per cent of the freebies eligible for renewal. Not all freebies have come up for renewal yet, so we hope for a few more subscribers from this promotion.
Catholic Schools and Colleges
Already 77 Catholic school and colleges in Aotearoa subscribe to Tui Motu magazine. We contacted all the other Catholic schools and colleges, inviting them to subscribe. This resulted in seven new subscriptions.
Subscribers' Enthusiasm
Word of mouth continues to serve us well. We received a trickle of new subscriptions via the payment portal on our website. Some of these new subscribers are people who have seen a friend’s copy of Tui Motu or encountered the magazine at their parish.
The payment portal on our website is gaining popularity as a payment method for new and existing subscribers. 146 subscriptions were renewed via the website portal this year.
Paid advertising is one way for Tui Motu magazine to keep up with the steep rise in costs of postage and less steep rise in printing, so we offer a range of advertising sizes and prices to potential advertisers.
We are grateful to Jenny Beck Law for their continued support of the magazine. Long-term advertiser Pleroma ceased to advertise due to their financial constraints. Stride Orthopaedics and Aroha Funerals now advertise in each issue and St Vincent de Paul Society and Christian Blind Mission (cbm) have bought advertising space in some issues. cbm has also bought leaflet distribution in three issues. We are grateful to Catholic and other organisations who have advertised in an issue during the year.
We have contacted many businesses inviting them to advertise inthe magazine. Tui Motu offers advertisers good value because it has national coverage and being in print can be found lying in homes, offices and churches where many have access to it.
Our goal is to sell the back page of every issue to an advertiser.
