Your Challenge:
Is to understand more about the international Coexistence art project and it’s peace and tolerance aims.
Follow this Process:
Watch this video: Coexistence
Discuss the efforts being made to promote peace and tolerance throughout the world through this international art exhibition.. Do you think the large art pieces on display are a strong means of getting cross the Coexistence message?
Brainstorm the things that do get in the way of people living in harmony (eg. racial prejudice, religion, nationalism). When you have a set of 5-10 “issues” break into groups. Define the problem and then outline steps that can be taken to prevent this from occurring.
Take action by preparing an artwork that conveys your message and share all the pieces in a Coexistence exhibition with the school (eg. perhaps by displaying in the school library, website or Office).
Educator Notes
To make this easier:
You could limit the number of issues to 2-4 and provide more guidance on the issue to be discussed.
To make this more challenging:
Encourage the children to come up with some different “issues” from those suggested above and encourage them to delve into them in greater depth.
