What are UNICEF ambassadors?
Follow this Process:
Watch these three videos:
Create a venn-diagram, in groups of three, that outlines the difference between how much impact a celebrity can have as an ambassador compared to an individual with no celebrity following. Think of how large an audience the celebrities you have just watched and how might they encourage support for organisations such as UNICEF.
Brainstorm how you believe a chosen celebrity that is a UNICEF ambassador has helped raise awareness for the global goals.
Summarise how your chosen ambassador has collectively worked with the UN to improve the global goals ethos with their following and work. Divide research tasks in your group to discover more about this ambassador, their work with the UN and their social following.
Present your findings as a video, powerpoint, poster or speech. Ask your teacher if you have any other ideas for the format of your presentation. All presentations must be a minimum of two minutes in length.
Take action and decide how you could use whatever following you have to mirror the work of these ambassadors and use your platform for good. How can you raise awareness about social problems that concern you?
Capture and share your presentation on this website to inspire others.
Educator Notes
To provide further challenge:
Require students to work individually on their case study research.
Require students to take inspiration from the ambassadors in the videos but to find another ambassador through their own research.
Create a debate to explore whether celebrities actually make a difference.
To simplify:
Brainstorm a chosen ambassador as a collaborative lesson in the classroom. Groups are to then make a presentation based of notes created with the teacher.
