Weekly roundup

A message from the leadership team
    by Claire Shakespeare

As Week 4 draws to a close, life at Wellington College is in full swing. There was an excellent turnout at our annual Clubs Day, and it was wonderful to see so many students signing up for the huge range of co-curricular opportunities on offer. There’s something for everyone, and we are so grateful to the large numbers of teachers and students who give freely of their time and expertise.

Members of the leadership team have loved getting in to visit our Year 9 classes this week, and we have been impressed with the engagement and focus of our ākonga (students). Students at all year levels have settled well into routines and have established a positive working environment for learning to take place. Ka rawe!

Next week we will be launching our Learners’ Toolkit. Over the course of the year, teachers will be guiding students through effective study strategies that they should integrate into their independent study. This is also an opportune time for senior students in particular to ensure that they are aware of upcoming NCEA assessment deadlines and procedures. This information is on Google Classroom for each course. We will also be holding an NCEA information evening for whānau over the coming weeks.

We look forward to building on this positive start for a successful year in 2024.

Ngā manaakitanga, have a wonderful weekend.
