A few Te Ngahere Day photos

Among the busiest term 4 ever, here are some photos from our Te Ngahere Day in week 8 that we hadn't shared. Tug of War, Secret Santa, A skip off Champion, and the waterfight gauntlet in slow mo.

Petries Road Petition

After camp, Jasper Rosewarne was scheduled to go straight to a meet with a road safety coordinator, read his account here:

Hi my name is Jasper Rosewarne I’m a student at Woodend School.

Earlier in the year I started a petition to put a 50 km sign on Petries Road. I did this because when walking to school I noticed that some cars would speed past. This I thought was a safety issue for children that live in the area.

When I was finished gathering signatures (thanks Te Ngahere:) with a total of 73 signatures I sent an email to Mike Crawford who sent it to Adrienne Simpson. Mrs Simpson sent the petition to Mark Paterson at the Woodend community board.

About four days later I got an email from the road safety coordinator, Kathy Graham. Kathy and I arranged to meet at the location I thought the sign should be placed and talk about my petition.

At the meet up she showed me some road statistics on how fast people go. Then she showed me some pictures of the road around 9 years ago and there used to be a sign there! She said in the New Year she would contact Waka Kotaki and respond to me if the signs go up again.

Kathy said that she will take the issue up with Waka Kotahi in the New Year

Good luck to our former Te Ngahere Students becoming year 7s, and Caitlin Loose, Roz Ellis and Mike Crawford welcome back our new year 6s in 2022.

Stay tuned for more communications for your child's 2022 team over the next week.
