Sustainability Unit
We've been lucky enough to have Rachel Jeffcote and Awhi Vreugdenhil who designed a special set of lessons around how to create a sustainable classroom - Students have been doing inquiry to what other classrooms are doing, how our own space is unique, and what roles can we have as students to create an efficient classroom.
Surfing on 30th of March
Surfing is in 3 days! Check out the video above from one of our earlier trips.
Thank you to all parents who have offered help and will be joining us on on the day. The surf trip generally goes ahead regardless of weather. If there is any change to this, a message will promptly be sent. In the case that the trip does not go ahead, we will postpone until term 4.
Could parents and caregivers who are transporting please arrive before 8.40 outside the Te Ngahere Space to fill out some paper work with Miss Loose. in Regards to adult equipment, if you would like to join the kids in the water, there is the possibility there will be wetsuits available, however you are welcome to bring your own.
We will have information booklets for parents joining us for the day to keep track of the timetable and which children are in their group.
We are still waiting on a handful of permission slips/google forms from some of our parents. If you are having trouble please email Mr C at m.crawford@woodend.school.nz
Intelligent Behaviours
Congratulations to Tyler, Tess, Sam, and Lottie who received intelligent Behaviour certificates this week.
Cross Country Training
We begin our cross country training this week. We did a survey to see how our students felt about running and grouped them accordingly.
We even have some students who ticked the 'born to run' category. If they would like to extend themselves outside of school, I have a running calendar they can make a copy of with their google identity by logging in and clicking on the link.
Handwriting
We have been heartened by the students who are taking their handwriting feedback seriously during our handwriting rotation on Mondays. We have been endeavouring to give handwriting conferences each rotation in place of written feedback and have seen some serious gains in the space of 8 weeks.
Learning Posts.
Stay tuned in the next couple of weeks for our learning posts on our wider curriculum and general comments about your child. The Te Ngahere Teachers enjoy reflecting with their students about their learning and we will be very proud to share the posts with you soon.
