Yaldhurst School Tōtara Tūkaha Board 2025

At Yaldhurst we are extremely fortunate to have a governing board who have a strong focus on building student achievement and ensuring that our students have the resources required to achieve their goals.

Introducing our board:-

Left to Right Top Row: Jessica Middleton (Presiding Member), Emma Martini (Deputy Presiding Member) and Sybil Hart-Woolcock Left to Right Bottom Row: Jonathan Gaunson, Tessa Pearce (Staff Rep.), Lynda Ingram (Minutes Secretary) and Gretchen Cocks (Principal).

Here are some of the specific things the Yaldhurst School Board does: 

  • Sets the strategic, direction and long-term plans for the school  in consultation with the school or kura’s community. 

  • Monitors the board’s progress against the charter goals and targets. 

  • Monitors and evaluates student progress and achievement. 

  • Oversees the management of staff, property, finances, curriculum and administration.

  • Ensure that government priorities are met. 

  • Fulfils the intent of the Treaty of Waitangi by valuing and reflecting New Zealand’s dual cultural heritage. 

  • Appoints and supports the principal and assesses his/her performance. 

  • Act as good employers to all staff at the school or kura.
