Food at School

There are so many wonderfully healthy choices for student lunch boxes. Putting aside a few extra minutes each morning to pack a nutritious lunch means your child will have the fuel they need to ensure energy and concentration they need for the school day.

At YSTT we encourage wrap free/litter free lunch boxes.

Based around the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) - wrap/litter free lunches are lunches that contain food items with no disposable packaging or single use items, such as pre-packaged foods, plastic bags, juice poppers, plastic straws or food wrapped in cling wrap or foil.

It is also helpful to transfer some products, such as yogurt,  to a reusable screw top container that your child can easily open and close. An added advantage with these containers is that anything not eaten at school can be consumed later.

The Heart Research Institute of NZ has some great ideas about why we should all pack healthy lunches alongside how to go about it.

Preparing Healthy School Lunches also has some great tips and thoughts around the importance of nutrition for children.

Each term there will be a fun PTA fundraiser such as a pizza lunch,  or hot chocci and a bikie to warm us up on a cold Winter's day. You will receive notification of these in our school newsletter.

Each Thursday students can have a Subway Lunch delivered.
