In New Zealand on this day in 1951 there were was an estimated population of 1,970,500 people.  Today our population is estimated to be 4,886,843.  New Zealand's Prime Minister was Sidney Holland.  In this very same year, 1 September, was the signing of the ANZUS Treaty.  New Zealand beat Australia in three tests winning back the Bledisloe Cup.

Did you know that Yaldhurst was named so by Mrd Frederick William Delamain after some stables owned by his uncle in England? Another settler Mr John Taylor who also admired Frederick's horse, they both agreed they would change the name of our community to Yaldhurst.

The Yaldhurst Community Hall was built 3 years later for the brave residents who served their country and lost their lives in World War I and World War II.
