History Corner - Yaldhurst School in 1920 - What happened at YMS in 1920?

In 1920 when this school photograph was taken, 50 students were in attendance. The following article has been written using only information from the Board of Trustees' Minutes that were recorded during 1920.

The photograph below was taken here at The Yaldhurst Model School during the 125th Jubilee in 2001. The Jubilee ran for two days from 2 - 4 February.  This picture is of students who had attended Yaldhurst Model School between 1910 - 1929.  Christchurch really is a small city.  The gentleman on the far right in the back row is Henry Chappell who was one of my (Lynda) neighbours. Henry was always a proud YMS supporter and never failed to purchase a generous quantity of chocolates from the PTA Chocolate Fundraisers (despite being diabetic.)
