Principal's Welcome

What a fantastic few weeks we have had here at Amuri Area School. We have been busy with all sorts of activities and initiatives. Our Year 3 / 4 classes enjoyed a trip to Christchurch, we had a visit from the Chisnallwood Intermediate Band and students competed at the Hurunui 7 A-side Tournament.
Last week I had the privilege of attending the New Zealand Area School’s Conference in Wellington. This was an incredibly valuable experience in terms of professional learning and networking. Our Area Schools have a unique context and sharing ideas and challenges with colleagues who understand our context was very worthwhile.
I would like to wish our senior netballers all the very best as they head to the South Island Secondary Schools Tournament in Christchurch next week. I’m sure they will play hard and with pride in representing our kura.
Congratulations to Molly Schuurman, Laura Cundy and Gypsy Thornton who won 1st place in their respective sections at the Hawarden-Waikari speech contest last week. Well done also to Lillie Schuurman (2=) and Tazmin Emsley and Katherine Taduran for their 3rd places.
A special congratulations to James Wallace who is our Achiever of the Month for August. James received multiple nominations for his effort and energy in his studies. Well done James!
Our senior students are preparing for their derived grade exams in Week 8. We hope these go well for the students and wish them all the best as they study and prepare for this important event in the school calendar.
Our school value for Term 3 is excellence and this has certainly been visible for all to see through the effort and achievements of each of our students. We have such an amazing school community and it is a pleasure to be part of the Amuri Area School whānau.
All the best for the next few weeks. Spring is in the air!
Kia kitea toikaka
