Term 3 has certainly been a busy one and we have many people, performances and achievements to celebrate.

It's a Term 3 Wrap!

It is hard to believe it is the end of Term Three already!

Our Balmacewen Kapa Haka rōpū performed at this years 30th Polyfest last week during Te Wiki o te Reo Māori. All students can be extremely proud of their efforts representing themselves, their whānau and our kura.

Balmacewen entered 2 teams into the Otago Rugby League Y7-8 competition this term.

Room 26 created these artworks this week. The learning was focused around learning observational drawing skills and mark making while using 6B pencils, aquarelle pencils and Indian ink. The also had an opportunity to put their painting techniques into action.

After two terms of individual and group preparation the two Balmacewen Rock Bands, “On Point” and “Ultraviolet”, were ready to perform their set of two songs at the annual Rockshop Bandquest competition in September.

On Tuesday, 19th September, the Balmacewen Choir and Orchestra went to Summerset for a morning concert, performing 5 items each.

These heat bag covers were designed with a stakeholder in mind. I was impressed with the variety we had in our Term 3 classes. Check out our last completed coves!

Our Year 8's have enjoyed learning about the screen printing process.

Year 8 Art students designed and painted these heads to tell the story of our school's new houses: Whanaupaki, Kaikarae, Araiteuru and Whakaari.

The Year 7's are mixing things up this rotation with a focus on modifying and adapting the recipe.

The highlight of the term for many is the Mystery Box challenge.

The brief was to construct a piece of furniture out of cardboard in miniature.
