Warning for parents and whānau-Dangerous Video Games

We are noticing some disturbing behaviours at school in the playground and overhearing students of all ages discussing the content and experiences from video games that they are playing. 

There are two particular video games that children, some as young as 5 and 6 years of age, have been talking about. One is “Fortnite” and the other is “Poppy Playtime.” The content of these games and others like them, are unsuitable for young children. In many cases, video games can have a restriction of 12+ years due to high levels of violent material. 

It is important to know the positives and negatives of gaming and for parents and whānau to be mindful of age restrictions and age-appropriate games. There are great tips for parents around gaming, devices, and safety at
