Welcome all wonderful Year 7 students and parents again. It’s been great to see so many smiling and enthusiastic faces around the school these last couple of weeks and I hope you’re all settling in well.

On Tuesday 20 February we had our annual whole school Swimming Carnival held at Ashfield Aquatic Centre.

Our names are Luke G and Milla N and we are honoured to be school captains for 2024.

The Peer Support Program stands as a testament to our dedication to nurturing the growth and well-being of every student. The after school Visual Arts and Design Enrichment courses are back for Semester 1!

Our School is holding Harmony Day Celebrations on Thursday, 21 March 2024 and we are calling on our talented school community to help make dishes from all around the world.

Our annual school Open Night is the perfect opportunity for primary school parents/carers and students to learn about what our school offers.

As we gear up to celebrate International Women's Day (Friday 8 March 2024) at DHSVAD, we are excited to embark on a special initiative to encourage reading and support female voices in literature. We kindly invite you to contribute to our Book Sale, featuring second-hand books authored by women.

Dulwich High School of Visual Arts & Design's Year 7 Dance Ensemble is a co-curricular activity where students participate in dance lessons to learn technique and routines for performances for school, the community, and representative events.

Congratulations to Lucas S for setting a new Bligh Zone record in the Boys 17-19 50m Breaststroke!

On Thursday 15 February, a group of nine dance students from DHSVAD had the opportunity to watch Callback 2023 at the Seymour Centre. Our students enjoyed watching the performances and gained insight into the components of Performance and Composition for HSC Dance.

On Wednesday 14 February, a group of Dulwich High School students participated in the Bligh Zone Open Girls Soccer Gala Day at Marrickville High School. They were in a tough and competitive pool which included Tempe HS, Strathfield GHS and Blackwattle Bay Secondary College.

On Thursday of Week 4, a team of Dulwich High School boys competed against six other schools across the Bligh Zone at the annual boys Soccer Gala Day.

DHSVAD was featured on the news following a wonderful visit from the Education Minister, the Hon. Prue Car, the Secretary of NSW Public Schools, Murat Dizdar and our local member the Hon. Jo Haylen. The three guests visited to launch a government initiative ensuring access to co-educational schools for all students.

The P&C would like to say a special welcome to all the new families who are now part of the school. The P&C will be busy organising activities for this year, so stay tuned. It has been a very busy start to 2024 with the arrival of three Year 7 students in the Support Unit.

As your child begins high school, it's natural to feel a mix of emotions – happiness, excitement, and perhaps a touch of apprehension. The transition to high school is a significant milestone in your child's life, and as parents and carers, your support and guidance are invaluable during this period of change.

Bullying comes in many forms. It impacts on a child's self-esteem, self-worth, resilience and academic success which can carry right through to their adult life. Moreover, online bullying can have a much greater impact and be far more difficult to deal with.

Our students had a unique opportunity to attend the Inner West Council Police Awards where they had the chance to meet dedicated officers and learn about their service and contributions to our community.
