The Home and School Committee is made up of a passionate group of parents within our school and exists primarily to bring our Hunterville whānau and community together and to coordinate fundraising activities that will benefit the children. We are always looking to recruit additional members to the committee and invite you to join!

What is the Home and School fundraising for?

We are fundraising for additional resources and funds for extracurricular activities to benefit students. In recent years we have fundraised for Epro8 equipment, Education Outside The Classroom opportunities, online learning programmes, new Chromebooks, classroom board games, the drainage of the school field and new rugby goal posts to name a few. Every year we also pay for the Year 8 leaver’s gifts, whanau group rewards, the welcome to school books for our junior people, new library books and money direct to school accounts as credit to support the payment of school camps.

Who can be on the committee?

Any parent or whānau of our school can be on the committee, and we welcome all participation.

I’d like to help out but can’t make a commitment to being on the committee?

While called a committee, it is not a formal committee, and to be involved does not require you to take up an official post or even attend every meeting. It would be great to have more parents support us and help share their skills and ideas. Another benefit of attending the meetings is connecting with other parents and some of the staff within the school community. It is also a great way for parents/caregivers and whānau to be further updated on what is happening in and around the school. If you would like to join the committee, email us or chat to one of our members at our next event. There is no “application process” to endure, we welcome everyone to join in the fun.

How often does the committee meet?

We normally meet twice a term (start and middle) and the details of our meetings such as time, date and venue are advertised in the school newsletter. We have an informal messenger chat group where some of the coordination for events is also organised.

What do you do at meetings?

At the meetings we bring forward thoughts, discuss fundraising ideas and put our collective skills together to come up with some awesome ideas and events. And of course we discuss how best to use our hard earned funds for our tamariki, while enjoying each others company!

I’d like to help out but can’t make a commitment to being on the committee.

No problem! We always need people to help out on the day of and in the run-up to our events. We would like to develop a list of helpers who we may approach for baking, running games, helping set up and other essential tasks to make the events we run an enjoyable experience for everyone.
