With great enthusiasm and gratitude, I get to introduce the first KingsWay Connect magazine for 2021.

KingsWay students have achieved significantly higher results in all aspects of NCEA compared to both Decile 8-10 schools and national results. We are extremely proud of our staff and students for showing such resilience in a tough COVID-19 disrupted year and achieving such outstanding results.

The Proprietor (KingsWay Trust/NZCPT) is charged with ensuring that the special Christian character of our school is maintained and enhanced and that we maintain and provide suitable property provision for the number of students enrolled at the school.

Every Connect Magazine we like to focus on one of our alumni. For this issue, we asked Karen Panoedjoe to write an article about herself. She's currently employed by Rocket Lab as a Software Engineer.

KingsWay School is celebrating its 35th Anniversary in September. An essential part of being a community of learning is to maintain connections with our alumni. The school's leadership is currently exploring establishing a formal network of alumni called the KingsWay Collegiate Association.

Our Kahui Ako team was created in 2019. In addition to KingsWay School, it also incorporates Jireh School and Westminster School. Working together, we decided upon three foci to realise the objective of improving student outcomes. These are: English Language Learners (ELL’s), Student Wellbeing and Key Competencies.

There are many opportunities for Senior School students to develop their leadership abilities and giftings. While there may be certain perceptions of what leadership is like, students who are selected for the roles (listed below) soon learn that servant leadership is just that—serving others.

Developing our young people as servant leaders is an integral part of Middle School culture.

Servant Leadership is often the key that unlocks the door of opportunity to developing gifts of leading others. A leader inspires those they serve, to serve others. That is true leadership.

The concept of manawanui (perseverance) has been a constant focus for the creative team and cast members of Aladdin Jnr. Here's an inside to their story...

On the 19-20th March, eight students from Middle School attended the Kids Connect Camp in Blockhouse Bay. The camp is run by Elevate Disability Trust and Children's Bible Ministry (CBM) and the theme of the camp was 'Carnival'.

Mrs Clarke describes what a wonderful experience she and her family had after inviting two international families to join them for Christmas lunch.

At the recent annual Hibiscus Coast Senior Club Cricket prizegiving, Tim Coetzee received the ‘Kookaburra Emerging Player of the Year’ award. Tim started playing men’s cricket when he was only 15 years of age and at 17, he is currently the youngest player in a Premier Men’s team within the Auckland region. Well done Tim, we are proud of you!

James swam at Auckland Age Group Swimming Championships in March improving on his times in 5 out of 8 of his races. He won 7 gold in 200m & 400m IM, 50m, 100m & 200m Fly, 100m & 200m Free & 1 silver medal in 50m Free. Congratulations James, these are fantastic results! 👏

Congratulations to Sophie Bingley who won the last meeting of this season (2020 – 2021) at Meremere. As she fought her way through a very tough field of racers, she made it to the finals and won.

Congratulations to David Howie (Year 10) who came 6th in the North Island 2021 Skoda North Island School XCO & XCR Championships. Well done David!

Matthew jumped a record high of 1.62m at the Middle School Athletics Day last year, 2020. This is higher than Izak van der Merwe's long-standing record for the past 11 years! 👏
