Youth Ambassador and winner of the Otago RSA Speech competition, Jacobi Kohu Morris attended the 2015 Anzac Day ceremony in Gallipoli.

Year 11 Environmental Studies students enjoyed their field trip to Mount Cook in early May.

Jacobi Kohu-Morris competed in the NZ semi-finals and final of the Race Unity Speech Competition in Auckland on May 16.

Congratulations to Year 9 student Sujata Ritchie who was selected to represent New Zealand in July at the World Performing Arts Championship in Hollywood.

In early May a team of Logan Park teachers attended a hui at Murihiku Marae in Invercargill focussed on culturally responsive teaching and learning.

The Technology rooms were buzzing term in Term 2. 

A number of Logan Park teams entered the 48 Hour Film Competition in May. Juniors, seniors, new international students as well as lots of ex-Logan Parkers worked furiously over the weekend to complete their films. 

On Thursday 14th May Josh Grills and his band 'Danstey and the cheeky darkies' performed at The Bog Irish Bar.

Five of our Year 10 students have turned their quirky humour and banter into an hour of free-form radio comedy, courtesy of Otago Access Radio's Youth Zone programming initiative.

At the end of May, Year 12 singer/actor and performer Reva Grills performed in the Taieri The Sound of Music production. 

In Term 1 Tupuranga (Maori and Pacific Island Student Leadership Team) ran a Hui to welcome all new Maori and PI Yr9 students to the school, to meet them, and to introduce them to the different activities that they could be involved in and find support from. 

Ocean Brydon and Karen Penaia were our Pacific Island NCEA Level 2 High Achievement Award winners for 2014 and were recognised at a ceremony this year. 

A group of five Thai students spent April/May studying at Logan Park High School. The students were matched with Kiwi buddies who showed them around the school and helped them learn about the New Zealand culture. The Thai students went to the same classes as their Kiwi buddies.

KiwiHost is a 2 day customer service course. 

I was ecstatic to be selected as one of 52 students from all around New Zealand to attend the forum in Rotorua, completely sponsored by the trust, in the easter holidays. 

During the Dunedin Writers and Readers Festival, Logan Park High School started its own reading festival with the Peer Reading Programme getting underway at the school. 

The inspirational Dunedin Writers and Readers Festival ran from 5 – 10 May. There were many fabulous events one of which was the Young Adult Writing Workshop with Mandy Hager. 

Sean Kennedy (17) won his age group section of the Otago Powerlifting Championships in April and will compete at the South Island finals in Christchurch next month to qualify for the Nationals. 

As part of the Year 9 Library program students read a fiction book and take notes on genre/themes, characters, climax, setting and the author. 

Stage challenge was a fantastic journey. All of the hard work and effort everyone put in collectively resulted in a fantastic third place in Otago, in May, at the Edgar Centre in front of a packed house. 

50 Year 11 students are currently completing a Unit Standard which looks at how to identify a range of cheeses, investigates their cultural origins and gives the students an opportunity to prepare a variety of signature cheese dishes. 

We had a very successful Futsal season with a number of impressive results in both the Term 1 Competition as well as the recent Otago Futsal Championships.

Our Shakespearean teams dominated the Otago Shakespeare competitions held at the end of Term 1. We won the Best Teacher Directed 15 minute piece as well as the Best Student Directed 5 minute scene and will represent Otago at the National Sheila Winn Festival over Queen's Birthday weekend in Wellington.
