Congratulations to everyone involved in Stage Challenge. We won the Otago competition and over 10 other awards in May. 

Twenty one students and staff had the trip of a lifetime over the April holidays when they travelled to New York and Washington DC to witness the culture, history and technology of the financial and political centres of America.

Early Term 2 was a busy time for the Science Department.

Level One Art students got to review artwork in a class critique. 

We celebrated NZ Sign Language Week in May.

On Friday the 7th of April, Mrs Frost’s Year 11 Physical Education class had a spectacular opportunity to go rock climbing at Long Beach. 

In order to foster students understanding of Chinese culture, and also thanks to the fund from Asia New Zealand Foundation, the Chinese programme at Logan Park High School held a series of cultural activities in May to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival.

Congratulations to Ahi Katai-Mullane and Esther Tamati for winning our school Manu Korero speech competition. 

The weekend after Queens’ Birthday (June 9-11) is an important fundraising time for many thousands of primary and secondary school students raising funds for World Vision’s 40-Hour Famine nationally. 

 We've had a busy time across a range of areas including starting up Winter sports.  Highlights include winning the Otago Southland Cross Country.  

The Learning and Support Class had a great opportunity to visit beehives at the Malcam Trust in Term 2 this year. 

Congratulations to George Sabonadière who won the Otago regional competition and was runner-up in the National finals in May.   

Talented poets Beth Lynch, Isla Thomas and Mary Locker were invited to share their poetry and writing as part of the Rising Stars lunchtime recital during Dunedin Writers and Readers Festival in May.

At the end of Term One we farewelled students from Germany, Denmark, Vietnam and Thailand.

About 40 students were involved in our Peer Reading and Conversations programme which ran twice weekly during Group time this year. 

Congratulations to our talented Shakespearean performers, composers and designers who will represent Otago at the National Sheila Winn Festival in Wellington over Queen's Birthday Weekend.

On May 10th, LPHS international students Juliette Franzen, Anna Raab and Aiko Otomo and Charities Club members Alva Feldmaier, Ben Clayton, Lena McNaughton and Amy Lloyd, collected for the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal outside the Dunedin South Warehouse for the day.

On a wet Wednesday 3 May  international students visited the museum in the morning and then  unipol in the afternoon. 

In March this year, our Year 13 Physical Education class went on a “Backyard Journey.”   During the experience they had to demonstrate safety management skills outside the classroom.

Who would have thought a competitive camp could be so inclusive? The NZIBO selection camp held during the April school holidays has been one of the most supportive and nurturing environments for learning I have had the privilege of being a part of. 

At Trustpower's Otago Community Awards evening at Toitu Museum Monday 15th May, Emma Samuels was announced as Runner-up for the Youth Community Volunteer Award.

Thanks to our enthusiastic PTSA for organising the 2017 Easter Raffle fundraiser, and to everyone who bought tickets!   

As one exhibition was dismantled from the Art Department Gallery Space a new one went up in May.
