Kia ora! During the week, we had a great visit from some of the Westlake Boys High School students who came as part of the Westlake Boys Languages Council. Some of the boys have been coming to visit us for the last 2 or 3 years, and really love their connections here.

This week we welcomed NaYa and her family to Milford School. NaYa has settled in well in to Room 18, and was enjoying some kite flying with her class this morning.

Many thanks for all the hard work and commitment given by so many coaches and managers to make this year's netball season so successful. To all the parents, sincere thanks for your support throughout the season. All the girls have learned so many more skills and have enjoyed their netball considerably.

Last Thursday, 65 of our students went to Takapuna Rugby Club for the last of 3 Rippa & Tackle tournaments. These tournaments are great for building friendships, sportsmanship, and developing skills that are transferable to many other sports.

This morning Room 18 and 15 were outside making the most of this wind and flying kites they had made.

Over the past two weeks Room's 7 & 4 battled against the wind and rain in the garden but still managed to harvest some leafy greens for the kitchen recipes.

Just a reminder that you only have until this Sunday 25th August to purchase a copy of the Garden To Table cookbook if you would like one.

You can drop off at the office any good second-hand uniform (no major wear or tears) that you would like to donate to the PTA. All proceeds are used for PTA Grants, i.e. to buy picnic tables, musical instruments, etc.

Congratulations to all our Chinese/Korean speech contestants! You all did an amazing job yesterday. Our judges, Bev Boyd, Ellie Cai, Yiha Kim and Christine Ling, had a difficult task to choose the top three students in each category.

Quiz-a-thon - WEDNESDAY IS THE DAY!!

We are pleased to be able to report that we, as a school, raised $578.20 through our recent mufti day. These funds have been donated to Kidsline, a wonderful organisation that aims to help, support and empower the children of New Zealand.

Come and get your daffodil from the school office for a small donation to the Cancer Society.

Issue #6 is now out, but as we are still awaiting student's orders from issue #5, we won't be sending home the order pamphlets. If you would like to order from this issue, please feel free to call into the office to collect a copy.

On Thursday the 29th August is our Father’s Day Family Night Event from 5.30 till 7.30pm. There are many different things happening on the night and it is a free fun event for the whole family.
