Deputy Principal's Message

by Nicola Hewitt

Kia ora e te whānau. Since 2009 there has been a huge growth in research into bullying and schools to expand our knowledge and understanding of bullying. Students have a unique and important perspective on bullying prevention at their school. Asking children and young people what they think is a significant step towards making sure that bullying prevention approaches are truly student-focused and effective.

DROP-OFF TIMES

by Sara Baker

There have been a number of children arriving at school between 8am and 8.30, and even some who are in the school grounds before 8am. Please try to arrive at school between 8.30 and 8.55am each day, as this is when the classrooms are open, and teachers are in their rooms. We also have road duty teachers from 8.30 to 8.55am, to assist children to cross the road or be dropped off safely. If your child is in the school grounds prior to 8.30, there are no teachers on duty, so if an accident occurred, it could be dangerous.

Random Acts of Kindness.

by Melanie Dixon

Anti-bullying week is not just a week to raise awareness on anti bullying but also a great time to focus on kindness. Perhaps you and your child can choose to complete some, or all, of these acts of kindness over the next few weeks. As the children in Room 15 will tell you... being kind is a great feeling!

Chains of Positivity

by Melanie Dixon

This week the students in Room 11 and Room 15 worked together to make a Chain of Positivity in support of Bullying-Free NZ Week. The children were invited to write or draw a compliment or write something positive on strips of coloured paper. They then worked together to create this long chain of positivity. It was so nice to hear the children think of compliments to write on their pieces of paper and see them working collaboratively to create a super long chain. We will hang our Chain of Positivity in the school library.
