Learner Profile certificates

by Beverley Smith

Every week, the Year 1 learners focus on one of the IB Learner Profile Attributes (LPA). These 10 attributes are qualities that we want the learners to strive to become. This week we have been focusing on being a Caring learner. This means that we look after and care for ourselves. At school, we can do this by playing in safe, allocated places only, by wearing our hats when outside, and by eating healthy food and drinking lots of water. Being a caring learner also means looking after and taking care of others by being kind to them. If we are kind to others, they will be kind to us. We also learn to be kind and caring to the environment. At school, we do this by looking after school equipment and by putting rubbish in the correct bins. Each week, the Year 1 teachers select 2 students to receive the LPA certificates. This week the following students were given certificates; Ella and Otis (Room 14), Charlie and Florence (Room 15), Ida and Maddi (Room 16), and Lucy and Eugene (Room 17). Congratulations to all of them.

MUSIC NEWS

by Eugenie Middleton

Thank you to the wonderful parents who donated money when they attended our amazing 'Music Extravaganza Concert' last year. This was a wonderful concert that involved around 300 children and many many groups! For this concert, there was entry by koha and we raised around $1400 which enabled us to buy a brand-new bass xylophone. We have been using it in our music lessons this week and the tamariki LOVE the sound it makes. Thank you so much for your on-going support of our thriving music department.
