After a great break, I have returned to school. Life has gone on without me. It is great to know we have such a supportive community.

Team Magma’s current inquiry involves investigating the following central idea: Clean air is an essential resource for sustaining our quality of life.

Here are some of the awesome things Room 5 have been doing with our inquiry into 'Clean air is an essential resource for sustaining our quality of life' We created a type of hover board that works on heat and air.

During Team Magma's Hui time assembly last week Constable Ben Rutherford from the roading police department came to give us a talk on road safety coming to and from school. We learnt about all the safety factors involved around crossing roads, driveway safety, and the fines for NOT wearing seat belts in vehicles. The Room 5 students made up their own posters as part of this visit for Constable Ben, check them out...

Room 2 have been looking at the systems to get food from their raw state to supermarkets. We were very lucky to have Elise's Mum, Kath bring in some cocoa mass and show us how to turn it into chocolate.

Mt Pleasant Blue netball team have successfully completed the 2017 season! There have been many laughs but also lots of skills learned and developed. Thanks Del Eden for your time and patience teaching the girls. You are a treasure! We look forward to the 2018 netball season!

On Thursday 24th of August two hockey teams and two football teams set out to represent Mt Pleasant School at the Canterbury finals for the Winter Sports Tournament. 

Kids had a great day skiing despite the poor visibility and all had a good crack at their first Mt Cheeseman primary school race. With 260 kids racing, from schools all over Canterbury it was quite an experience!

This week we welcomed Chef Wendy and she ran two fabulous workshops for us. The students worked in two groups and each group had two sessions working with Wendy. In the first session she taught the students how to make their own bread and they learned how to shape it into buns. They also did some pasta making. 

This week’s challenge was to bake an item featuring vegetables. A delicious spread was presented, both sweet and savoury. Carrots, parsnips, beetroot, courgettes, pumpkin, mushrooms … it was a great way to get ‘5 Plus’ a day! Congratulations to our winners – Grace M, Ellen T, Tessa D, Rosie R.
