Nayland students show their true colours at House Day 2020
Two weeks ago, Nayland experienced yet another successful house day, with students coming together under the banners of either Draco, Aquila, Pheonix or Pegasus House to celebrate a day of whanaungatanga – the chance to feel a connection to their school and have a whole lot of fun in the process.

It was a case of history repeating itself for the Nayland debating team as they took out the senior section of the Kahurangi Regional Student Debating competition for the second year in a row. The tournament, held at Nayland College, featured debaters from Nayland, Waimea, Garin, Nelson Girls, and Nelson Boys colleges.

Year 12 Nayland College student Zena Denton inline speed-skates at both a national and international level. Last year she competed at the Oceanias, while over the New Year period she competed in the flat track and road nationals. Two weeks ago, she competed again in the banked track event. She came 2nd in relays and ranked 6th individually.

Year 11 student Saran Adams likes playing touch rugby. In fact, she often plays for up to five teams in a single week. This dedication has obviously paid off, as she recently returned from representing the Nelson region at the 2020 Bunnings Junior National Touch Championships in Papakura.
