Last week the Kauri team walked down to the domain and got involved in the annual Cross Country. We had a great day and here are the podium results, from each race.

Last week the school had many highlights and opportunities for our students. This included a visit from the Warriors Rugby League Team (which was the Stuff site) our Kauri Cross Country, students completing their learning on Anzac and beginning their Science unit on Habitats in preparation for class trips.  We also had our parent meeting on developing our Education Brief.

Oaklands School has an opportunity to look ahead and design innovative physical environments that enable future-focused education for all learners and their communities.

We had a visit from the Warriors, and made the news!!!

This Friday is the start of the winter sport programme. 7 teams have been entered in the Year 5/6 weekly competition.

The Pioneer Basketball competition kicks off this week. Good luck to students in the 6 teams entered.

Week 4, Term 2, 2016

Last year many of our students & classes were fortunate to receive a free copy of the Worry Bug picture book.  Your feedback on this resource is welcomed.

This year - Oaklands School will be a part of this effort - to raise money to support those children who have been forced to leave Syria and are now refugees in other countries.

We are looking for any strawberry plants or runners for our Food Forest.

Next week we are acknowledging Bully Free NZ Week with our school leaders Hannah, Jack, Kayla & Dylan presenting at both team assemblies, random act of kindness activities each day and a 'wear something pink' day on Friday.  The pink shirt day website www.pinkshirtday.org.nz has some great ideas for activities and information to get the whole community involved.  I would like to acknowledge the amount of work that is going into organising next weeks events by our Year 8 leaders and encourage you to get behind the event and wear something pink on Friday 20th to show your support.

Dates for your diary.

Any child leaving or arriving at school between 9am and 3pm must be signed out at the office.

With the large number of students unwell it is really important that you let the office know if your child will not be at school.

In Terms 1 and 4, all students must wear a hat when they are outdoors.

The purpose of our complaints policy is to provide clear guidelines for the school community in raising and resolving concerns and complaints.

Please respect our NO GO zones and times and be considerate of other students and their families.  

A reminder that students cannot be on the school grounds before 8.30am in the mornings.
