Science

As our writing hook, we completed another interesting and explosive experiment on Tuesday. The students worked alongside the hub 2  relievers and combined mentos with coca-cola and sprite to see what would happen. As I'm sure the kids have told you at home once the mentos were put into the bottles it began to fizz and then shoot out the top! It was quite a display and from this the students did some fantastic writing around what occurred.

Support Teachers Week

This week was a week to thank all our teacher aides, support staff, and part-time teachers. We showed our appreciation in hub 2 by singing 'diamonds' to the teachers who support hub 2 and we gave them a small gift.

Maori

We have been completing a rotation for Maori each Friday. The three rotations include students writing their individual mihis, practicing te reo Maori and the school songs, and also practicing their te reo Maori pronunciation.

Big Book

This week's big book was "Will they float", where we read and tested out which items selected could sink and float. Students were very surprised when testing a lemon that it floated! On Friday we create a form of art that relates to the big book, this week we made paper boats and decorated them in some pretty crazy ways. Check out the designs below!

Kelly Sports Thursdays

Each Thursday we enjoy a session with visiting coach Hugh from Kelly Sport. Hugh has been teaching us a range of games requiring little or no equipment. These Thursday sessions are fast becoming a weekly highlight and it has been good to see some of the games that have been taught, being recreated at break times.

Bake Sale

The Year 8's held a fundraising bake sale on Wednesday. The selection of yummy goodies was overwhelming. The bake sale was very successful and we sold out of all baked goods halfway through morning tea. Over $700 was raised, all of which will go towards the year 8 trip to Wellington.

Certificates

Congratulations to all the students that received certificates today for Maths-Whizz progressions, 50 and 100-day bookmarks and CARE awards. Ka Pai!

Have a fantastic weekend from all the teachers in Hub 2 :)
