Elshke Chadinha - March 18, 2019
During week 7, students writing with Mr Horn and Miss Chadinha engaged in an experiment called "moving milk". We started off by grouping students in groups of 2 and 3 and gave them each a bowl with some milk in it along with a drop of red and blue food colouring in the milk.
We then asked the students to collect a earbud, dip it in dishwashing liquid and finally put the earbud in the milk. The students were amazed at what happened next. The students created some beautiful patterns and shapes by mixing the earbud around in the milk.
So you might wonder, how does moving milk work?
The dish soap causes the fat and the water in the milk to seperate and spread apart. The result is the dancing motion of the food colouring in the milk. So why not try this experiment with your child at home!
After the emotional hook on Monday we then started to write about our experience. There are some examples of writing attached.
