Reading

This week we were doing Running Records to check on progress in reading and identify next steps in learning.

Now is a great time to check in with your child's reading teacher if you want to talk to them about their reading progress. Feel free to email them or pop in and speak to them face-to-face!

Writing

This weeks science experiments were used to inspire writing samples, an unassisted piece of writing we will use to indentify progress and next steps.

Mr Horn's writing class wrote about our second attempt at growing crystals.

Mr Morehu's writing class made massive tubs of Oobleck to inspire their writing.

Maths

Next week will be a special Financial Literacy week in Maths, we will be having a guest speaker from ASB on Tuesday, and learning about money throughout the rest of the week within our regular maths time.

PE

We are getting pretty good at the Elephant Roll, the next one we are adding to our selection is the circle roll, which sounds and looks easy but is one of the more complicated rolls we will be learning. Following that we will be learning the forward roll, then we will be learning to build a sequence of rolls.

Topic

We are turning our attention to the technology side of our topic for the remaining five weeks of the term, as such we had our first attempt at following the technological process by designing, building, evaluating and changing a ramp to make a lego car go as far as possible.

The Arts

We finished our fourth rotation through our arts programme this week, we will be beginning the fifth and final rotation next Friday!

What's Coming Up?

- Mr Horn is away on Monday, he will be back on site on Tuesday but will be on ICT release, he will be back in the class properly on Wednesday.

- Ms O'Loughlin is on Leadership Release on Monday.

- Whole School Assembly is at 2:00 on Monday.
