Here are some of the things that have been happening this week in our hub as well as some photos from earlier in the year you may have missed.

Writing

Earlier this term Mr Morehu’s writing class were learning to write with their senses. Children had to describe an object without actually saying what it was. Can you guess what some of the things are by reading what they have written? If you aren't sure you will have to ask the children who did the writing when you see them at school. Good luck.

'It is white. You can bend it. You can wobble it. You can make a book with it' - Cleo

'It is a thing that gives you oxygen and helps you stay alive' - Greer

'It is squishy. You can stretch it. It smells. You can poke it. It can be green but different colours too' - Oakley

'She has a fish tail. She lives under the sea in a castle. She has half a person's body. She has a pet fish and a beautiful necklace and long hair' - Tiffiny

Reading

This week and next teachers will continue to do running records on children to check their progress. Please feel free to contact the teacher your child reads with if you have any questions or just want to have a chat about how they are doing.

Maths

Well done to Brocke, Jady, Elizabeth and Olive for winning their Maths Whizz certificates this week. Looking at the number of progressions that most children are now making, it seems that most children are really focused on their learning. Keep up the good work children and maybe it will be YOU winning a certificate next week.

Inquiry

This week we went to Bromley EcoDrop Worm Farm to learn about the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling. We learnt about how worms recycle food and other organic materials that can then be used to grow new plants.

The teachers would like to say a special thanks to the parent helpers that were available to help out. We couldn't have gone without your help and support.

CARE Certificates

Well done to all the children that received their Respect Certificate today. Hopefully we will have some certificates for Community, Active Thinking and Excellence to give out soon.

The School Lockdown

The Year 2 Blue Hub were amazing during this time. Talk to your child about what they learnt and had to do.
