Today I want to celebrate one of our best student accomplishments this year.

Congratulations to Cameron McAuslan for winning a highly sought after PwC Scholarship.  

10G have spent this week down in the heart of the Catlins exploring this beautiful corner of the South Island. As well has having fun on the many beaches and walks available the focus of the trip was also to complete three academic based projects under the theme of “Compare and Contrast”. This will give the group of boys a tremendous head start as they pursue their academic goals of attaining an Excellence endorsement for NCEA Level 1 in 2017.

Year 10 Gingerbread structures. The Tardus, Golden Gate Bridge, Bilbo Baggins house, Littlebourne and local rugby grounds to name a few. Both Year 10 classes are close to completion.  What an awesome effort!

This week we have received a note of thanks from a teacher at Tahuna Intermediate wishing to acknowledge the voluntary service of OBHS Year 9 student Cameron Jefferies.  

Over last weekend (Thursday 24th - Monday 28th November) the OBHS Lodge hosted a group of 20 PhD students and lecturers from Otago University on a writers retreat. They made the most of the isolated location to concentrate on their work; writing thesis, preparing presentations and critiquing each others work.

We have had a lot of fun this year with the Library Quizzes held each term. Star Wars, Dr Who, Harry Potter...so it was important to end the year on a high note, and the juniors requested the Tolkien masterpiece - The Lord of the Rings.

Last night at the Edgar Centre was finals night for futsal teams playing in the secondary schools' competition. 

Last week our Year 10 Blues team traveled to Nelson to compete in the Junior South Island Tournament. We went in as Otago Champs and seeded 6th overall.

Students returning to school in 2017 are welcome to take out books from the library for the summer holidays. Please see Ms Vare to arrange this.  Why not also get something out for your family to enjoy reading as well!! Books will need to be returned on the first day back at school in 2017.
