Here is some important information about a new MSD fund which is available now - The COVID-19 Community Awareness and Preparedness Grant Fund.

$ for $ Fund - Extension to 30 June 2020

Otago Community Trust’s $ for $ Fund has been extended to 30 June 2020, therefore we are taking the opportunity to encourage those schools who have not picked up their school’s entitlement to do so. Over $400k is still available to be picked up.

Trustee Pip Laufiso has shared a very useful link to the #ProtectOurWhakapapa website which has some resources that have been specifically developed for Māori. These are very clear, simple to understand messages that can also be used by a wide range of community groups to support those in need.

In early March ONENews Goodsorts visited the Urban Farm at Kaikorai Valley College. The short video produced gives a great sneak peek of the work of a science teacher Dr Simon McMillan who saw potential in some surplus land at the College.

Creative New Zealand is actively monitoring how they can support the arts sector through COVID-19. They have just released further information on their $16M Emergency Response Package.

Learning Impact Fund - Now Closed

The Otago Community Trust established the Learning Impact Fund in 2017 to provide a dedicated fund to support projects which would make a real difference to student achievement, but which are unable to be funded through traditional funding channels. Since launching the Learning Impact Fund three years ago, Otago Community Trust has approved just over $2 million to eight separate Learning Impact Fund projects.

South Otago Schools brace for learning impact

Otago Community Trust was pleased to announce in late February that it had approved a $500,000 grant to support the Big River Cluster of schools across South Otago over the next three years.

COVID-19 Response Fund - Now Open

On the 30th of March 2020, Otago Community Trust earmarked a separate $2 million dollar response fund outside of our regular granting budget to support community organisations and not for profit bodies within our funding area through the current COVID-19 crisis. This Response Fund is Now Open.
