On Monday we had a great time at our Life Raft Ticket Pool Party! Well done team, keep showing those amazing life rafts and values and keep collecting the tickets. You're awesome!

This week we officially say farewell to Pene as our caretaker. However, he will be around for a little bit longer before he makes the trek north. Pene has been a dedicated staff member keeping the place looking tidy and keeping a watchful eye on the property. There are a number of kids who will miss the chats in the morning as they work alongside Pene doing jobs. Pene and Kerry have been members of the pool committee who have kept this facility running so well so that it is an asset to the school and the community. Thank you Pene, we wish you and Kerry all the best with your move.

We welcome Phil Young to the staff as our new caretaker. Phil was a parent on the school board, and had the property portfolio, when the landscaping at the front gate was installed and all the paving went in. He tells us that the soccer posts on the back field will not come out in a hurry as he dug deep when they went up! Phil is father of our current board member with responsiblity for property, Nathan, and grandfather to Maddy, Nixon and Carter. Phil starts on Tuesday, introduce yourselves if you see him working around the place.

Room 7 headed away to Camp Iona on Tuesday. This, for some Year 5 children, is the first time they have been away from Mum and Dad for 3 nights, so there were some mixed emotions as they packed up and headed out. But you'll see from their faces that they are having a pretty good time.

We look forward to hearing all about their adventures on their return.

Next week the Year 4's head out to Camp Waiora for the night as a wee taster of camp. Then the following week it is Room 6's turn to go to Camp Iona. I have spent the last couple of days hanging with Room 6 and they are looking forward to their adventures and think their biggest challenge will be getting enough sleep.

A reminder to download the Edge Parent App. Let us know if you need any help.

Assembly on Friday. Room 2 and 8 will be our presenters. We were going to be farewelling Pene, but we will need to postpone his goodbye's as he's been called up to a sick relative in Hawera.

You may have heard that Carolyn gave us a bit of a scare on Monday morning. It's hard to keep a good woman down though! She is back today and promises us that she will take better care of herself.

Ngā mihi

Kim
