PPPS Consultation Feedback - Communication
Different groups have been considering the feedback and working on the next steps. The Board of Trustees have been looking at the general feedback on what we are doing well and what we could be doing better as well as the issue of the hall.
One theme that came through was communication. A number of people said this was an area of our school that had improved which is great. We have reflected on this and feel that whole school communication is working a lot better with class dojo as our go-to communication source. However, there was feedback where there are areas we are continuing to develop. Some of those areas we are looking to make some changes and improvements in are:
How we report back to you as a Board of Trustees - One idea in this space we are working on is alongside an article in the newsletter, potentially having a different board member each month post a summary of Board matters on dojo either in written or a video format.
The next thing we are thinking about is how teachers communicate directly with parents. We realise this is done in a range of ways currently across the school. Going forward, we are looking at from the beginning of 2023 having greater consistency with communication across all classes and teachers with a weekly post on dojo providing an simple overview of what is being learnt in class, any notices and highlights of the week.
Another area we are looking at is how we report student progress to parents. We are keen to discuss this further and will seek further feedback on this from the parent community group and teachers to find a productive balance between providing good information to parents and teacher workload.
The feedback also showed that parents are keen to understand the curriculum better. We are looking at how we can provide regular updates on different curriculum areas in the newsletter as well as parent evenings twice a year as a face to face opportunity to discuss what we are teaching and how we are teaching in areas such as literacy, numeracy, science etc.
