Enviro

We were straight in with Litterless Lunches this term and impressed with the 77% litterless lunchboxes that we saw on the very first day of school.

Here are some of the 100% club of Room 7 and our Enviro Leaders from Room 16 showing us their fantastic single use plastic-free lunches. We have been asked by new parents for ideas to keep lunches litterless, with the convenience of multi pack yoghurts and chippies being one of the biggest barriers. The most popular way that we see across the whole school is to buy a big pot of yoghurt or pack of chippies and use a small reusable pot to take a small portion every day. Muesli bars are a tricky one especially if there is no time for home baking, but the best alternative seems to be buying a pack of biscuits for the week, or buying a slice and cutting it up. Pots of roasted chick peas, Bombay Mix and Pretzels are popular, and of course fruit, cheese and cold meat.Next week in Enviro Club we will be burying some common lunchbox items in the garden to see how much they biodegrade over the term.
