Steeple Rock - 1 February 2024

From the Principal - 1 February 2024

Welcome back Seatoun School, it’s so amazing to hear the unmistakable chatter of students... our school is alive once again!

We have had a very settled start to the year. Most of our programmes are up and running, and the children are working hard in class.

We welcome everyone, particularly our new families, to Kirikiri Tatangi - Seatoun School. Our whakatauī, kia kirikiri tatangi ki te ao, the children who will make their mark on the world, is what we aspire to achieve.

Attached to this Steeple Rock are team newsletters and long-term plans. When you read these, you will see what an action-packed term we have in front of us!

Earlier this week, I sent a message via Hero listing days that the school is closed or operates differently this year. Please make sure you have added these dates to your calendar. The first of these days is Monday, February 5, when school is closed.

Some Reminders

  • Medication - If your child needs any medication at school, including antihistamines, please bring it to the office and complete a Medical Authority Form.

  • Kindo - when ordering, please ensure you have the correct class selected for your child for 2024

  • Jackets - Everyone needs to bring a jacket to school every day. If there were a large earthquake, we would all evacuate to the ridgeline above school. We may have to wait there for a considerable amount of time.

  • Name clothing - each term, we have a huge amount of lost property. Please clearly name your child's clothing (first and last name). We can not store lost property after the term; it is washed and donated to charity.

  • Get your child to school on time! Please do your best to ensure your child arrives between 8.20 and 8.45. Being late for class does not set your child up for success.

  • HERO is our essential communication tool. Please use HERO to record an absence; this considerably streamlines the office workflow in the mornings.

  • Students sign in or out. If your child needs to leave/return during the day, please sign them in/out at the Office

  • Parking- We are a lot more fortunate than many schools regarding parking. Please respect our neighbours, do not park over driveways or down Dorset Cove, and do not park on the footpath, as this is unsafe for our children. Please use the kiss and drop for only this, not parking.
